Overcoming Obstacles through Prayer
From years of drinking and substance abuse of all kinds, I was told that if I kept abusing my body, I would have only about six months to live. I was on the verge of cirrhosis of the liver. Because of this, I stopped using, but only because I had no choice. I went to prison for six months, and I gave my heart to the Lord.
Once out, I inherited a small amount of money. It was enough to get some blood work done. I knew that your liver could heal itself. I believed it would be somewhat better. But I found that it was just as bad as when originally diagnosed. I was told that I also had Hepatitis C. I knew that I had been infected with hepatitis from a tattoo I got in the late 80’s, but I didn’t understand how serious that was then. I was told there was a cure, but the cost was out of my league. I decided that it was okay. I conceded that I would never be able to afford the treatment. I thought that maybe the reason I found the Lord now was because I was getting ready to go to Heaven soon.
One night, I decided to google this drug that was available for Hepatitis C. I found some information and made some phone calls. They seemed to like me and to take a real interest in my situation, so they forwarded me to others who knew about this drug. Within two weeks, I had made contact with the right people, and they literally gave me the drug. You have to understand that this medicine was $849.00 a pill. Three months’ worth of treatment was about $90,000. My half-cousin knew an internal specialist who could order the medicine, and he oversaw all my treatments pro bono.
I have since received the news that I am completely cured. I have never been more grateful. Our Lord just keeps on shining. If you look for Him, He will show himself. If not, you will be in the dark. He doesn’t desire that any should be lost, but we have to come to Him believing!
Ephesians 3:20 says, “He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly all that you ask or think, according to the power that works within us.”
Scripture verses to meditate and pray:
God can answer you in miraculous ways. Ask Him to make Himself known as you pray through these scriptures.
“Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 John 5:5)
“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” (James 1:6)
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen.” (Hebrews 11:1)’
